‘Social Justice Fallacies’ -5*

Liberalism’s greatest argument for the existence of Systemic racism, White racism, and White supremacy is captured in Ibram Kendi’s statement: "When you truly believe that the racial groups are equal, then you also believe that racial disparities are the result of racial discrimination”.
-Ibram Kendi, University Professor, Author, Professional activist

This sentiment is one of the foundational pillars for their idea of ‘Wokeism’. Tragically, through the ‘Cancel Culture’, liberals have succeeded in trapping this nation into the wholesale acceptance of the spirit of Kendi’s statement, spreading deep-seated division in our culture, literally imposing victimology on a generation of young people from college campuses down to kindergarten.
Allow me to continue using Thomas Sowell’s book ‘Social Justice Fallacies’ to dismantle the liberal myth that income disparities among races prove White supremacy!
On pages 19,20, Sowell offers what he calls ‘Episodic Factors’ to reveal other causes of differentiation among people groups. He writes, “In addition to ongoing differences among peoples, there have also been unpredictable episodic events---such as wars, famines, and epidemics—that can disrupt the development path of particular peoples. The outcomes of military conflicts can be a matter of chances that are incalculable---and yet able to determine the fate of whole societies or nations for subsequent generations or centuries.”
Sowell continues, “As things turned out, Europe has been far from being a culturally, economically, or otherwise homogeneous civilization, with its peoples having the same quantity and kind of human capital across the continent. Instead, the languages of Western Europe acquired written versions centuries before the languages of Eastern Europe. This had major implications for the education of the people in these two regions, who had little chance to be equal in endeavors requiring the kinds of knowledge and skills taught from books in schools and colleges.”
“Eastern Europe has been poorer and less industrially developed than Western Europe for centuries, and the homicide rate in Eastern Europe has been some multiple of the homicide rate in Western Europe for centuries.”
“Nor was the east-west divide the only cause of national inequalities within Europe. At the beginning of the twentieth century, when only 3 percent of the population of Great Britain was illiterate, the figure for Italy was 48 percent, for Spain 56 percent, for Portugal 78 percent. There were similar disparities in 1900 within the Habsburg Empire, where the rate of illiteracy ranged from 3 percent in Bohemia to 73 percent in Dalmatia. Massive scholarly studies found great differences in both technological and in the number of leading figures in the arts and sciences in different parts of Europe.”
“It was much the same story in Africa, where in 1957 only 11 percent of the children attending secondary school in Nigeria were from the northern part of the country, where a majority of the population lived. Someone born in northern Nigeria had nowhere near the same chances as someone born in southern Nigeria—a fact reflected in the different economic success of tribes from these different regions of the country.”
“Both in Europe and in Nigeria, different circumstances led different groups to different levels of literacy and different school attendance. In Europe---in centuries past, when people were far poorer, some groups working agriculture had little need for literacy, but often had great need for the work of the children, in order to keep families adequately fed. In such circumstances, children’s education was often sacrificed, depriving them of even second-hand knowledge of a wider world.”

In conclusion, I leave you with a final confirmation from Thomas Sowell: “Differences in habits and attitudes are differences in human capital, just as much as differences in knowledge and skills --- and such differences create differences in economic outcomes.”
To call income disparity between Blacks and Whites in America ‘systemic racism’ is once again proven false!!

*If you want to see the many footnotes in the book to determine the source of Dr Sowell’s facts, you will have to purchase the book. I purposefully left them out.
