What is the origin of Islamic anti-semitism? Simple answer…the Quran! The Quran and Hadith teach that Allah turns Jews into the following animals: “apes” “pigs,” “monkeys”, “rats”, “and lizards”.
Quran But when they stubbornly persisted in violation, We said to them (Jews), “Be disgraced apes!” -Surah 7:166 Say, O Prophet, “Shall I inform you of those who deserve a worse punishment from Allah than the rebellious˺? It is those who earned Allah’s condemnation and displeasure—some being reduced to apes and pigs and worshippers of false gods. These are far worse in rank and farther astray from the Right Way.” -Surah 5:60 The context of these two verses refers to the Jews. For example, Surah 5:59 uses the term “People of the Book” which refers to either Jews or Christians, but primarily Jews. The word “Book” refers to the Bible. You are already aware of those of you who broke the Sabbath. We said to them, “Be disgraced apes!” -Surah 2:65 Does this mean literal apes & pigs? According to their scholars, the answer is absolutely that it is literal. For example, regarding 2:65, the following Muslim scholar writes: “During the night, the Jews collected the fish after the Sabbath ended. When they did that, Allah changed them from humans into monkeys, the animals having the form closest to humans. Their evil deeds and deceit appeared lawful on the surface, but they were in reality wicked. This is why their punishment was compatible with their crime. This story is explained in detail in Surat Al-A`raf, where Allah said (7:163)” “In his Tafsir*, Al-`Awfi reported from Ibn `Abbas that he said, (We said to them: "Be you monkeys, despised and rejected'') means, "Allah changed their bodies into those of monkeys and swines. The young people turned into monkeys while the old people turned into swine.'' Shayban An-Nahwi reported that Qatadah commented on, (We said to them: "Be you monkeys, despised and rejected''), "These people were turned into howling monkeys with tails, after being men and women.'' https://www.alim.org/quran/tafsir/ibn-kathir/surah/2/65/ Hadith**: The Following is Muhammad’s view of ‘literally’ turning humans into animals: “During the pre-lslamic period of ignorance I saw a she-monkey surrounded by a number of monkeys. They were all stoning it, because it had committed illegal sexual intercourse. I too, stoned it along with them.” https://sunnah.com/bukhari:3849 We were in an army with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). We got some lizards. I roasted one lizard and brought it to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and placed it before him. He took a stick and counted its fingers. He then said: A group from the children of Isra'il was transformed into an animal of the land, and I do not know which animal it was. He did not eat it nor did he forbid (its eating). https://sunnah.com/abudawud/28/60 Abu Zubair reported that he heard Jabir B. 'Abdullah saying that there was presented to Allah's Messenger (the flesh) of the lizard, but he refused to eat that, saying: I do not know; perhaps it (lizard) might (be one of those natives of) the distant past whose (forms) had beer, distorted. https://sunnah.com/muslim/34/70 It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever kills a house lizard with one blow will have such and such a reward. Whoever kills it with two blows will have such and such a reward,” less than the first. “And whoever kills it with three blows will have such and such reward,” less than that mentioned the second time. https://sunnah.com/urn/1273350 Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "A group of Israelites were lost. Nobody knows what they did. But I do not see them except that they were cursed and changed into rats, for if you put the milk of a she-camel in front of a rat, it will not drink it, but if the milk of a sheep is put in front of it, it will drink it." I told this to Ka`b who asked me, "Did you hear it from the Prophet?" I said, "Yes." Ka`b asked me the same question several times.; I said to Ka`b. "Do I read the Torah? (i.e. I tell you this from the Prophet.)" https://sunnah.com/bukhari/59/113 How can it be possible to have normal relationships with a people group who refers to another people group using such derogatory and degrading language? The answer is…it is impossible! I repeat, the origin of Muslim anti-semitism is the Quran! How can it be possible to have normal relationships with a people group who by religious edict refers to another people group using such derogatory and degrading language? The answer is it is impossible. Therefore, and I repeat, the origin and basis for Muslim anti-semitism is the Quran! *Tafsīr, (Arabic: “explanation,” “exegesis”) is the science of explanation of the Qurʾān, the sacred scripture of Islam, or of Qurʾānic commentary. For Muslims, hadiths are among the sources through which they come to understand the practice of Muhammad and his Muslim community (ummah). As such, they constitute an important source, second only to the Qurʾān, for law, ritual, and creed.
