Polls are both good and bad. They can be good to help deal with skeptics, atheists, agnostics, and other doubters. However, they can also do damage when they contradict faith, and the believer chooses to believe them instead of the Word of God.
President Obama once said, “Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation.” There are many things I don’t agree with regarding this President, but this quote is probably at, or near the top of the list of my dislikes. Using this poll, I would like to say to President Obama, once again, you have proven to be incorrect. The most recent Gallup poll findings: Religious Identification in the U.S. 2008-2015 Christian religion non-Christian religion None % % % 2008 80.1 5.3 14.6 2009 80.0 4.8 15.3 2010 79.1 4.4 15.3 2011 77.9 4.7 17.5 2012 77.3 4.9 17.8 2013 76.8 5.3 17.8 2014 75.7 5.2 19.0 2015 75.2 5.1 19.6 Through Dec.20, 2015 Gallup Daily tracking http://blackchristiannews.com/2015/12/majority-of-americans-still-identify-as-christians-gallup-poll-finds/ The good news is that Americans still claim Christianity. However, this is good news only to some who feel the need to refute opinions like our president who continue to reject the avalanche of evidence of America’s Christian past. Incredibly, at this point, I must ask why someone who claims to be a Christian would want to deny the nation’s obvious Christian history anyway? The bad news is that this poll means absolutely nothing. The actual spiritual state of America often forces me to reconsider whether President Obama’s detestable evaluation of America is correct! For example, just a few days ago, a new Pew research was released saying that 54% of all Christians in America agree that "homosexuality should be accepted, rather than discouraged, by society." (http://news.yahoo.com/poll-shows-christians-america-really-203719289.html?nf=1) The poll went on to say that 83% of people unaffiliated with religion agreed with homosexuality; and 76% of non-Christian faiths agreed with homosexuality. The percentage for Christians agreeing with homosexuality increased by 10 percentage points from 2007. If this polls reflects “American Christianity”, then the 75% figure from the first poll of is a farce! This sad state of American Christianity is the end result of the influence of liberalism/progressivism--a doctrine of atheism! It is understandable how an unbeliever would get caught in the web of deception of liberalism…but a Christian!? One who supposedly has the Holy Spirit living in him!?! America is at the most serious crossroads in her history!* The Bible speaks of an apostasy, a great falling away from the faith (2Thess2:3). If the Christians of America are not in the ‘falling away’ position, I would like for someone to please tell me what constitutes ‘falling away from the faith’!! I am not one who gives up! I intend to cry out to God in repentance, will someone join me? *That is my positive side speaking. In reality, America appears to be on the other side of the crossroad! Quotebit "There is one quality that one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to possess it." - Napoleon Hill
